George W. Shanks Jr.

Born and raised in Wooden Valley, Napa County, George developed his love and appreciation of the land from his maternal grandfather, Joseph Peripolli.

He obtained his knowledge of farming from his grandfather and was managing the property by the time he was sixteen years old.

In 1981 the replanting of improved Sauvignon Blanc grapes began, followed with the planting of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes.

George developed the drive and desire to make his own wines during the years of selling grapes to other wineries. His extensive knowledge on wine making was helped with the input from many other Napa Valley winemakers. Over the years he has developed his own unique style of winemaking.
